Weston Middle School (WMS)
Grades 6 thru 8
Weston’s One World After-School Programs
Weston Youth Services is pleased to offer IN-PERSON (and a couple of virtual) WOW! After-School programs for students in Grades 6-8 at Weston Middle School this fall! Please note that enrollment is limited in order to keep class size small and classes will be filled on a first-come, first -served basis
Online registration will open on Thursday, September 2nd at 10:01 a.m. If a program is full, you still may register and your child's name will automatically be placed on the wait-list (No payment is required at this time). If space does become available, you will be notified via email.
Important Note: If you do not have an account established with Weston Youth Services, you will need to set up an account online once the registration systems opens at 10:01 a.m. on Thursday,
September 2nd .The system will ask for your email address and generate a temporary password which will then be emailed to you so you can proceed with registration.
Please see each course listing for specific fees. ALL materials are included in class fee.

at 203-222-2663 if you would like to inquire about assistance.
  • ALL payments must be made online by credit card via our secure site.
  • Full payment of program fees must be made within twenty-four (24) hours of registration.  The system has been set up to automatically delete unpaid registrations after twenty-four (24) hours. When a registration has been deleted due to non-payment, a system-generated email will be sent stating:
"This is a notification that the registration for (registrants first name and last initial) has been deleted due to non-payment on (date and time that registration was deleted).”
Once a class begins, we do not issue refunds or credits. If you cancel your child’s registration prior to the start of a program, you will be charged a $25.00 administrative and processing fee.

Students will be dismissed from the front entrance doors. Please be prompt in picking up your child as our instructors have commitments after class.

Important Information:
  1. In the event of an early dismissal due to inclement weather or any other school emergency, all after-school programs will be cancelled and children will be sent home per regular school dismissal plans. In the event of a cancellation, we will send a reminder via email and also post this information on the Weston Youth Services website. We will make every effort to make up missed classes due to cancellations.
  2. There is no nurse on duty after normal school hours. In the event of illness or emergency treatment, we will call 911 and then contact parents, or the emergency contact if necessary. If your child has any special medical needs, please contact Charlene Monn at 203-222-2586 prior to the start of the session.
  3. Weston Youth Services reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of student enrollment. If insufficient enrollment causes an activity to be canceled, participants will receive a full refund.
  4. If a student is dismissed for disciplinary reasons or withdraws from the school or the program, the entire program fee is forfeited.

Monday Programs

Baking with Gabriela! (3rd – 6th grade)                                                           CANCELED

Special Note: Baking with Gabriela! Is being offered virtually and runs from 5:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m.
An extremely popular program at Weston Intermediate School, this fall we’re welcoming our 6th graders to join us for this virtual Baking with Gabriela program! Surprise your family with a homemade treat that you baked in your kitchen! We’ll bake virtually together and You’ll be your own chef, ready with the recipe, cookware, and ingredients. Gabriela will stand by and guide you through the different baking steps and answering questions, while you and your friends mix, measure, and prep. The recipes in this 60-minute online class may include yeast-based bread and pizzas, muffins, and cakes. See you in the kitchen with all new recipes!
Gabriela Low discovered her love of crafts as a child in the Swiss school system. Today she enjoys baking, sewing, knitting, and needlework, and is especially pleased when she sees a child’s enthusiastic discovery of their own creativity. Many students know Ms. Low as a substitute teacher in the Weston schools.
Sitter Safety (6th – 8th grade)
Maximum # of participants: 12 students
Fee: $ 110.00
Note: This is a 5-week program and runs from October 4th thru November 8th
Location: Health Room (F-5)
Note: If your child is unavailable for Session I, we will be offering other sessions throughout the school year!
Special Note: Sitter Sfety runs from 2:30-3:45 p.m. 
A very popular program with Middle School students, please join us this fall for the return of Sitter Safety. This 5-week program will cover:

•   American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid Certification along with Hands Only CPR
•   Infant and Toddler Child Care
•   Emergency Situations, including a visit from the Weston Police Department
•   Child Development and Behavior
There are three requirements to pass the Sitter Safety Course in order to receive a certificate: 
1.      Completion of attendance at all 5 sessions (unless parents notify course instructor)
2.      Completion of a written final exam.
3.      Supervised baby-sitting In-Service Project with the return of completed questionnaires. 
Note: If your child cannot make this session, we will be offering three other sessions during the school year in January, February, and April.

Tuesday Programs

Time: Class runs from 2:30-3:30 p.m. 
Learn how to manage your money in this program promoting essential life skills! Set your financial goals, develop a budget from scratch, shop for a credit card and calculate the monthly cost of your dream car. Students also learn about mortgages, FICO scores, taxes and the dangers of piling up debt. Through simulations and hands-on activities, participants will gain confidence to explore financial decisions they will have to make in the future.

NEW! Debate Club
Minimum # of participants:  8 students minimum;

Time: Class runs from 2:30-3:30 p.m. 
Students will learn the art of persuasion and help select debate topics they find interesting.
Students will work in rotating groups and practice their debating skills in a supportive environment, including developing arguments, issuing rebuttals, providing examples, rebuilding their case and summarizing points of view. Students will learn to think on their feet and enhance their public-speaking skills, gaining self-confidence in the process.

Chess (3rd – 6th grade)

We’re thrilled to bring Dan Starbuck Pelletier and his team of chess coaches to our WOW! after school programs this fall!  DIG USA teachers use chess to improve strategic thinking, problem solving and patience in a fun, engaging way. We teach how the pieces move and how they work together using tactics like forks, pins and discover attacks. We will use Chess.com (free to set up an account and free to use) and Zoom to teach the students. This class is for beginners, intermediate and advanced. We’ll make it interesting for everyone, while teaching content and material that is understandable for all!

Covid Safety Guidelines

Weston Youth Services Fall 2021 programs


Please note that the pandemic may cause changes in our operations that are unpredictable. We are planning for in-person after school programs that follow guidelines established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and our local health and school district. We’ll continue to adjust our health and safety policies and procedures as updates become available. All classes will have health and safety supplies including hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. All staff and participants will wear masks and practice physical distance while indoors.  All pick-ups of students will occur outside.
